Onboarding LuminaLogic

Introduction
This onboarding video offers a visually appealing, dynamic, and engaging experience while facilitating the integration of new employees at LuminaLogic. This fictitious corporation is involved in cutting-edge technology and innovation related to illumination and lighting. Leveraging the Vyond features made it possible for me to craft sophisticated and polished animations. This in combination with storytelling and my attention to detail, I composed this multi-scene introduction video that captivates and welcomes new employees into the organization while demonstrating my proficiency with storyboarding and the Vyond Platform.
Approach
It is critical to include a clear, logical storyline so that the content is effective for the learner. To enhance the overall flow I began with planning and organizing scenes that I would use into a storyboard to form cohesive and comprehensive storytelling. I chose scenes and backgrounds that aligned with the company’s brand and developed the order of the scenes as follows: a busy city, the main office entrance at LuminaLogic, inside the office, and the conference room.
In the design phase, I found it necessary to incorporate a home office scene for the new employee. This addition improves engagement and clarity by illustrating the information provided by the mentor, rather than relying solely on auditory support. I also chose to create a beginning title scene and end to capture a more complete video for the viewer.
I developed a script that covered the essential information that later integrated into the project through the design process. This information included a welcome message, onboarding topics and structure, instructions to get started, and a closing message. It was at this point that I matched the script to its designated scene that would be most realistic to maintain fluidity.
Key Features and Skills
The first element of the design process was importing the company’s brand color palette to fuse into the project. The “quick access” feature in Vyond made it easy to customize backgrounds, props, and characters to maintain a consistent and professional look. At this stage I was also tailoring scenes to naturally draw the viewer’s eye to the focal point. This included fading necessary backgrounds and props with translucent shapes and layering.
I utilized Vyond’s extensive library of character movements and expressions to convey a range of emotions and actions. Motion paths helped bring my project to life by adding realism to advanced movements, gestures, and facial expressions while simultaneously captivating the audience.
Though Vyond does not include a back perspective of characters, I created this strategically with shapes, customizing their size and color to give the illusion you are looking at the back of the character. This was integrated into the scene where the learner is following the mentor character, Lucinda, to the conference room.
I experimented with Vyond’s intricate transitions and chose appropriate ones to create seamless shifts between scenes. I selected these progressions thoughtfully when referring to how they would play out in real life to avoid unnecessary distractions. An example of this is the doors to the building opening to the main office entry.
Camera movements helped to create dynamic and cinematic effects. Panning and zooming added depth to the animations as well as engagement. This strengthened the busy city scene as the camera zoomed toward the doors, bringing the learner’s attention to where they are going despite the chaotic environment. I also applied camera movement when the mentor character was shifting to discuss the main topics of onboarding. The camera pans and zooms to the laptop that opens with the content, again keeping the learner’s focus.
Audio features in Vyond allowed me to create a voiceover for the script, add background music for ambiance and tone, and sound effects to emphasize actions. The advanced audio editing tools supported me to fine-tune timing and delays, adjust volume of background music and sound effects, and synchronizing the audio elements precisely. My storytelling flourished with Vyond’s lip sync feature which added another layer of realism along with my keen eye (and ear) for meticulous timing. These audio components were paramount in polishing the overall project.
